Ketchikan Directory
Are you looking for a change of scenery or an adventure? Look no further than Ketchikan, Alaska where the fish are always swimming, the mountains are full of the most beautiful trees and the glacially carved fjords are ready and waiting for you.
Wander through a small section of the 2.3-million acre Misty Fjords National Monument. It’s located a short 40 miles south of Ketchikan and can be accessed from Ketchikan via boat or plane. During the summer there are many day cruises and flightseeing tours, which put all the wonders of the Misty Fjords on display.
Art plays a large part in Ketchikan’s community. It has been voted recently as one of America’s Top 100 Small Arts Communities. Wander through the town centre and you’ll see why – native artists create beautiful works of art through traditional weaving and carving methods. Approximately twenty percent of Ketchikan’s population can claim direct heritage to the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian tribes of Alaska.
Ketchikan is also a wildlife paradise. Over 250 different species of birds have been identified in Ketchikan. You’ll also find a variety of other animals - Migrating humpback and orca whales, as well as sea lions, seals and porpoises, are often spotted on cruise excursions.
Take a visit to scenic Ketchikan and you’ll never want to leave.
